πŸ› the very slimey caterpillar by @pilotslime πŸ¦‹ πŸ› texture: lotion thick and glossy x marshmallow bead x java chip πŸƒ scent: fruit nectar and honey 🍎 size: 7oz, intermediate level β€œThe Very Hungry Caterpillar is about hope. You, like the little caterpillar, will grow up, unfold your wings and fly off into the future.” Eric Carle This one landed at exactly the right time. I recently found a monarch caterpillar outside on some milkweed, kept watching him, and decided to get him a home and bring him inside so my son could watch him turn into a butterfly. We have also been reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar a lot lately, and my son loves to talk about all the food the caterpillar gets and how he ends up with a stomach ache. That is his favorite part every single time. So this slime was all too fitting, and I love slime that has this much meaning in my life. Two fun facts while we are here. Monarch caterpillars eat nothing but milkweed and grow to almost two thousand times their original mass in about two weeks, so the very hungry part is not an exaggeration. And the book started with a hole punch. Eric Carle was punching holes through a stack of paper, thought bookworm, and wrote A Week with Willi Worm. His editor suggested a caterpillar instead, and that swap turned into more than 50 million copies in over 60 languages. Pilot nailed the theme right down to the scent. Fruit nectar and honey is pretty much what the butterfly at the end of the book would order, and the lotion thick and glossy base with marshmallow beads and java chips is such a good match for a story about eating your way through the week. That is my son’s dream machine you can hear in the background, playing one of his favorite stories. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, of course. Slime, stories, and a caterpillar that turned into a butterfly of our own.
