You already know how I feel about them so I will spare you the whole story again, that is the level of obsession we are working with over here. Little tidbit while we are here: the first fog signal in this country was a cannon, installed at Boston Light in 1719. Ships coming into the harbor would fire, the keeper would fire back, and that call and response was how you found your way in on the days the light could not reach you. Pretty perfect for a slime that smells like a foggy day at the beach. The butter and the icee are spectacular on their own, and I say that as someone who does not even really like icees. The icee is less wet and more holdable, still so soft and sizzly. The butter is smooth and creamy, a little clay heavy going in, which is exactly what makes the end result work the way it does. Once you mix the two, this thing becomes a literal cloud. Super fluffy, airy and sizzly, foamy and frothy, plush and whipped all at the same time, and not tacky at all even fully inflated. Snow butter adjacent, but it feels like its own thing entirely. The soft foggy grey it turns is gorgeous. Heads up that the two textures deactivate each other slightly when they meet, so give it a few sprays of activator after mixing and you are golden. The scent is super cologney with dark coastal vibes and I cannot get enough of it. Mahogany and coconut are what I get the most, and it reminds me so much of the MidSummer’s Night candle from Yankee Candle. The driftwood, sea salt and sea kelp sit underneath and give it that damp, atmospheric layer that makes the whole thing feel like weather instead of a scent.
